The Eiffel Tower is one of the most unique and recognizable structures in the world. Built between 1887 and 1889 the tower was not liked by many at the time. This must have been especially hard for those people due to the fact that at the time I could be seen from nearly everywhere in the city. It gets its unique shape partly for art’s sake, and partly because it needs to stand up to strong winds. The four bases of the tower were mathematically designed to be shaped how they are. Its creator, Gustave Eiffel, took great pride in his creation and put countless hours of work into its design. The Eiffel Tower soars 1063 feet high, and has millions of visitors each year come to make it one of the most popular travel spots on earth! Recently the tower has started offering an ice skating rink during the winter months, which seems like it would be great fun.
